If there's one task I truly despise, it's packing. You're either the type who's super organized and packs weeks in advance, or you're someone who packs at the very last moment and boards the plane convinced you've forgotten something. My downfall typically arises when I'm trying to pack all my makeup, skincare, and haircare products. However, after traveling so much in recent years, I've discovered that the secret to not overpacking (and staying within your luggage limit) is travel-sized beauty products.

While it might seem like a pricey investment, having a dedicated makeup, skincare, and haircare go-bag (one that stays packed specifically for travel) makes your life infinitely easier. Most beauty brands today offer miniature versions of their best-sellers, which you can usually purchase for a reasonable price, allowing you to leave your full-sized bottles, jars, and palettes at home.

If you haven't yet embraced the travel-sized beauty trend, I'm here to convert you. I've gathered a selection of travel-sized makeup, skincare, and haircare products worth checking out before your next journey. Let's dive in, shall we?!

The Best Travel-Sized Skincare Products

Naturally, you'll want to use mini versions of the skincare you already love. However, some brands don't actually produce travel-sized beauty products, so you'll need to decant your creams, cleansers, and serums to take with you — which, if you've ever attempted it, can be quite a hassle.

Personally, I'd prefer to buy some travel-sized beauty products that I know will either A) do the job or B) I've always wanted to try and use this as an opportunity to refresh my skincare routine. That's how I discovered my love for the NZ brand Emma Lewisham. I purchased the Emma Lewisham Essentials ($145) before embarking on a big trip, as I had always wanted to try the range. I ended up loving it and bought the larger versions once I got home.

It's also essential to remember that you don't have to travel with an entire 10-step skincare routine, especially if you want to conserve your precious luggage allowance. Choose a travel-sized beauty bundle that contains about three or four products, max, like the Estée Lauder All Day Radiance Set Mini ($75) or the Byoma So Hydrated Set ($32). They each come with the skincare essentials — cleansers, creams, and serums — and won't occupy too much space in your luggage.

When you're traveling, you also want to focus on skincare that's convenient, like makeup wipes. While they're probably not ideal for everyday use, a pack like the Shiseido Basic Care Refreshing Cleansing Sheets ($24) is incredibly handy when traveling. You can easily wipe away the day's grime before diving into your fuller routine (or at least do the bare minimum to remove your makeup if you're too exhausted after a night out or a long day on public transport).

Of course, if you're embarking on a long-haul flight to your destination, we suggest the viral Summer Fridays Jet Lag Mask ($43). It's perfect for applying at the start of your flight and letting it soak in for 10 minutes before wiping it off to keep your skin hydrated.

Then, we'd recommend layering a serum like ILIA's The Base Face Milk (from $46) or Merit Beauty's Great Skin Instant Glow Serum ($29) and face cream like Merit Beauty's Great Skin Moisturizer Priming Moisturizer ($29) or Charlotte Tilbury Charlotte's Magic Water Cream ($50) to effectively lock in the moisture before you get dehydrated in that big metal tube.

The only product we haven't mentioned yet is SPF. We 100 percent recommend packing a quality SPF for every holiday. Brands like Ultra Violette, La Roche Posay, Naked Sundays, and Mecca Cosmetica all offer travel-sized sunscreen.

The Best Travel-Sized Makeup Products

Now, onto makeup. Fortunately for us, most makeup brands create excellent travel-sized beauty products. So you might not need to stray too far from your favorites. However, we do have a few exceptional recommendations worth highlighting in case you need some minis.

When it comes to a great base, Charlotte Tilbury's Hollywood Flawless Filter ($27) is available in a mini version, allowing you to leave the big bottle at home — and both Tarte (Shape Tape Ultra Creamy Concealer Travel-Size $23) and Kosas (Revealer Concealer Mini $26) offer travel versions of their best-selling concealers.

For blush, bronzer, and highlighters, you can't go wrong with Rare Beauty's mini Positive Light Liquid Luminizer ($30) and Soft Pinch Dewy Liquid Blush ($27) or Westman Atelier's cult-favorite Petite Baby Cheeks Blush Stick ($43). All three will save you space in your makeup bag while lasting through several trips!
