“Firstly, I want to express my gratitude to everyone who has shown me support. Your positivity means the world to me, and I’m thrilled to have brought some joy to your lives. That was my intention,” the 36-year-old began.
“I didn’t expect that it would also lead to so much negativity, which has been quite overwhelming. Nevertheless, I went out there and enjoyed myself.”
Despite some suggestions that RayGun treated the Olympics lightly, she insists her commitment was genuine and wholehearted.
“I approached it with utmost seriousness. I dedicated myself entirely to preparing for the Olympics, and I gave it my all. Truly, it’s an honor to have been part of the Australian Olympic team and to witness Breaking’s Olympic debut,” she continued.
“The achievements of my fellow athletes have been simply remarkable.”

In response to the Change.org petition alleging Gunn’s unfair selection to the Australian Olympic team, Gunn urged everyone to consult the Australian Olympic Committee‘s statement, along with posts on the Breaking Aus Instagram and the WDSF Breaking for Gold page. All three entities have denounced the petition, labeling the claims as false and defamatory.
“Here’s an interesting tidbit: there are actually no scores in breaking,” she noted, possibly addressing the criticism about her scoring zero in the event.
“If you’re interested in how the judges compared me to my competitors, you can view the comparison percentages based on five criteria at Olympics.com — all the results are available there.”

Gunn shared that she will be in Europe for some “pre-planned downtime” but requested the media to cease harassing her family, friends, and the Australian dance community. “Everyone involved has been through a lot, so I kindly ask you to respect their privacy. I’ll be open to answering more questions once I return to Australia,” she concluded.

Gunn made history as the first Australian woman to compete in the inaugural Breaking event at the 2024 Paris Olympics. Her unique moves, including the signature kangaroo bounce, quickly gained attention. While she has been praised for her enthusiasm, she has also faced a significant amount of international online criticism.
